• Spanish Language

Spanish language is ranked as the third most spoken language in the world. This fact is backed up by the statistical calculations: 330 million people use it as the first language and 87 million people consider it to be their second language. Spanish is the linguistic dominant of the countries in South, North and Central America, the whole Iberian peninsula, apart from the multiple immigrants and Diasporas in most world countries. The geographical distribution of Spanish language produced a range of its dialects, for example those spoken in North America and Australia.

Spanish belongs to the Roman group of the Indo-European family. The common foundation for most Roman languages is Vulgar Latin, and thus the speakers of Spanish, Portuguese and German may find a lot of similarities in each other's language that are explained by common Latin foundation. Spanish is a flexible language, and the influence of the languages of the neighboring states is still visible in its grammatical and lexical structure.

The origin of Spanish language dates back to the Roman Empire, when Vulgar Latin was nationalized on the Iberian Peninsula. In the times of Reconquista the language spread to northern regions of the state. In the 16th century the colonial expansion of Spain brought the language to American continent and Africa, specifically the American continent, Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, Marianas, Palau and the Philippines. A curious episode occurred in 1492, when Elio Antonio de Nebrija presented the first Latin-Spanish dictionary to the queen Isabelle. The royal lady asked what to do with the dictionary, if she knew the language already, while the author of the book answered that language was the tool of the Empire.

Spanish language is also an analytical, specifically verb-based, language that correlates with the grammatical structure of English. However, a Spanish verb can produce about 50 forms when conjugated; the nouns and pronouns in Spanish remain relatively unchanged.
